ARK: Survival Evolved’ Xbox One Server Issue Fix Inbound [Update]

The big ARK: Survival Evolvedupdate last week that brought split-screen play to the Xbox One last Friday also brought some new issues to the Game Preview program title. The largest to hit the open-world dinosaur survival game is a server connection issue that prevents players from connecting. A Studio Wildcard representative just announced Monday a fix is incoming soon.

Xbox One owners trying to connect to ARK: Survival Evolved via the server browser. The most frequently occurring issue is receiving a message stating a server is full even when that is clearly not the case. After digging around to discover the cause of the issue, Associate Producer and Community Manager Jat Karunakaran announced a fix is on the way via Twitter.

Jat went on to explain the issue is on the server-side. That means a hotfix patch will not need to be deployed to the Xbox One to fix the issue and skip the console's certification process.

Update: Studio Wildcard posted the following update just minutes after this article was published.

That's not the only ARK: Survival Evolved issue bugging players at the moment, however. The UI scaling option is currently broken in the game, which causes important elements such as character status to not be shown on some television sets. Studio Wildcard is aware of the issue and plans to have a hotfix patch released to the Xbox One later this week. Until then, players can fiddle with the resolution and other settings on their TVs to try and get the missing UI elements to display.

Unfortunately, the hotfix patch will have to go through the Xbox One certification process, since this is a fix to the game's software on the console. It will be interesting to see how quickly it comes out.

[Image via ARK: Survival Evolved]As for the current server issue, there are workarounds available for those that are having trouble connecting to ARK. Jat offered four different ones below, but this writer would like to add a fifth. While running into the same series of issues last night and constantly trying workaround one, I discovered waiting for the server list to finish loading prevented the connection error. You'll know the list of servers is done loading when the "Searching" button on the server screen changes to "Refresh."

Here are the four ARK: Survival Evolved workarounds shared by Jat via Twitlonger.

Workaround one:

– Launch up ARK.
– Attempt to join online server
– When ARK is in the joining phase, hit your home key on your controller.
– Do not close ARK but go into your console settings on the left hand side menu.
– After that head into your network settings, hit go offline and after a few moments hit go online.
– Then head back into ARK and retry joining servers.

Workaround two:

– Launch ARK and select Join ARK
– Wait for Official servers to finish loading (604 in total) –
– Head into your favourites filter and remove your server from your favourites – remember the server number!
– Relaunch ARK and attempt to join your server
– If you get the same error / unknown error, attempt the work around above that involves going into your network settings.

Workaround three:

– Select Host/Local
– Select Host a Dedicated / Non-Dedicated Server
– Exit out of the settings Menu
– Exit out into the Main Menu
– Attempt to join an Online Server

Workaround four – would only use this as a final attempt due to some local-save data deletion:

– Heading into your game manager
– Delete your player save game data and reserved game space.

Again, avoid workaround number four if at all possible. The incoming fix is also reason enough to lose any of your current ARK: Survival Evolved game data.

As previously covered, Studio Wildcard believes there are enough servers to support the current population, but is aware others want a fresh start. They are considering other options.

It's important to remember that the game is still considered to be pre-alpha by Studio Wildcard. So, don't be surprised to see bugs and glitches pop up with each release through it planned official summer release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
