Hillary Clinton Says No Sign of FBI Email Investigators Yet
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Sunday that the Federal Bureau of Investigation hasn't yet contacted her about her use of a private email server and some of her most sensitive emails.
In an interview with NBC's Meet the Press, Mrs. Clinton said she would cooperate if FBI agents do get in touch as part of their investigation.
"Back in August, we made clear that I'm happy to answer any questions that anybody might have, and I stand by that," she said.
The FBI is investigating whether any national security secrets were compromised by the use of Mrs. Clinton's residential server and whether anyone committed any crimes through the use of the server.
As the nation's top diplomat, Mrs. Clinton exclusively used a private email account tied to a server kept at her home in Chappaqua, N.Y. She didn't use an official State Department account, an arrangement that was discouraged by the Obama administration but wasn't illegal. Several emails in Mrs. Clinton's personal account have been found to contain classified information, although the information wasn't marked as classified at the time.
Mrs. Clinton said she wasn't concerned about the timing of the criminal probe into her use of the email server.
"I don't think anything inappropriate was done," she said. "I have to let them decide how to resolve their security inquiry, but I'm not at all worried about it."
Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders reiterated his desire on Sunday to avoid Mrs. Clinton's email controversy on the campaign trail even though advocates speaking on his behalf have brought it up.
"That is not what I want to be focusing on, and I would hope my surrogates do not focus on that issue," he said on CNN.
