Soon, AP to have its own data server

Summary: "The data on the common server will soon be transferred to our own server. Though the data was virtually divided between the two states post bifurcation of AP, it continued in the common server. But, it will be moved to Vijayawada soon.The common server at SDC, currently located at Gachibowli, is managed by Wipro. The State Data Centre (SDC) in Hyderabad will be divided and the AP government has decided to move its database to Vijayawada, where it will set up a new SDC. According to AP State Reorganisation Act, the server will remain with Telangana after 10 years and AP should set up its own server.The SDC plays a major role in administration as both states depend on the state resident data hub (SRDH).

Hyderabad: After the division of government employees and institutions, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are now busy dividing government data and the main server that is storing it. The State Data Centre (SDC) in Hyderabad will be divided and the AP government has decided to move its database to Vijayawada, where it will set up a new SDC."The data on the common server will soon be transferred to our own server. The new server will play a major role in e-Pragati too," said J Satyanarayana, IT advisor to AP government.

The process will begin with the transfer of Aadhaar-related data to a new server dubbed 'people's hub'. The AP government recently engaged Oracle to manage the server at a cost of about Rs 15 crore. The server will be situated at SDC in Hyderabad for some time.
